Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance - Fatality Input Kodes [PlayStation 2]

Updated: Jan 30, 2023

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, released in 2002 for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance, is the fifth main instalment in the Mortal Kombat franchise, and a sequel to Mortal Kombat 4 (1997). It was the first all-new Mortal Kombat fighting game produced exclusively for home consoles, with no preceding arcade release. Its storyline focuses on the eponymous alliance between the two sorcerers, Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, and their elaborate schemes to revive an ancient army to conquer Outworld and Earthrealm. This is the only main instalment that neglects Lui Kang as a playable character due to his death in the opening cut-scene. In addition to the original Game Boy Advance Port of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, a second version entitled Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition was released on 25th August 2003. Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition featured characters excluded from the first port. The characters not present in the other versions are: Sektor, Noob Saibot, and Sareena.

Unfortunately, each character in this game only has one Fatality, which means that the Fatalities in this game can very easily come across as monotonous - especially when playing through 'Arcade Mode'.

Although it is not mandatory; when performing a Fatality, you should press the L1 button to get into the 'Fatality Stance', which will freeze your character in place, whilst you input the Fatality kode.

Fatality Kodes:

  1. Shang Tsung - 'Soul Consume' - "UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, TRIANGLE".

Which Fatality was your favourite; and which Fatality do you think was the worst, and why?
